New poll up! I almost added a "Yes, and I'm one of the 11 million-plus Wow addicts!" option, but that's just because I'm so biased for WoW...

No thanks. Time and money saved right there.

I didn't vote because, while I own Guild Wars (remind me to reinstall that), there is no subscription fee.

That's a good point. I'm going to add a new option on for free games.

I have never played a MMORPG. It's not that they don't appeal to me. The aesthetic of World of Warcraft is very appealing. But there are many other things I need to do instead, so it's a matter of priorities. Plus, we have one computer for the whole house, and I don't want to tie it up and cause marital problems by hogging it when my wife needs to get online. So I'm happy to game by myself on the consoles and play the rare co-op game with a friend on Xbox Live.

Good for you, Evili. You resist the temptations.

Actually, I've never played a decent MMORPG except for WoW, which I now view as one of the greatest games of all time. So normally I'd agree with you, but WoW changed my mind.

I detest the idea of paying monthly. I don't want to have to feel obligated to play a game just because I've payed for it. That's why I like Guild Wars so much. It's an awesome game with no monthly fees, and a lot of people play it.

As much as I refuse to pay for a game monthly, I still unfortunately pay 8$ a month for Xbox Live Gold and starting soon 9$ a month for Netflix. So the economy is getting their money from me a different way.

But at least those are for a bunch of games/movies/downloadable content. I would pay for that. But $15 for 1 game? No thanks.

$15 a month was hard to swallow even for WoW. However, when I play WoW, I tend to play it as much as I can for a number of days, and then stop for a long time. So, whenever I'm really in the mood to play, I pay the $15 fee, and I can play as much as I want for a month. It's still on the pricey end of things, but it's so fun, it's well worth it. I role-play in WoW, and ever since I found a truly amazing RP server, $15 seems like nothing next to the incredible and memorable adventures I've taken, friends I've made, and murlocs I've slaughtered.

I've had Subscriptions to WoW and Star Wars: Galaxies. In both cases I ceased paid status in less than three months. I do play Guild Wars, however.

Nope, no subscriptions. Too much money for something I probably wouldn't play that often anyway. I prefer games I can sit down and beat, and come back to for multiplayer with friends when the mood strikes me.

I like to pay for a game once and only once. I see no point in shelling out continual amounts of cash for a game.

I agree with this to the extent that I can't afford to keep paying because of my lack of a very large income. I only work part time at my cross country coach's computer repair business.

New poll up- this one was inspired by Nuts & Bolts' hilarious intro sequence!

That was a pretty good one.

I voted that I love them because my first N64 game was Banjo-Kazooie. I've never had an experience quite like that before that game. All the platformers before that had been very straightforward with a focus on a singular goal instead of multiple goals at once. I even put up with lesser platformers because they have so much to collect.

So yes, "collectathon" platformers are a favorite of mine.

"Eh, they're so-so."

I like having multiple goals, and games like 16-bit Sonic where you can try to get all the Chaos Emeralds add some extra playing time to the total, but I don't like games that make you collect a certain number of mandatory somethings to unlock the door at the end of the level and let the game advance. As long as the game can go on without the collectables, I'm okay with it. But I am so sick of being forced to search for crystals and other such nonsense, just to get to the next level. So I voted for the middle option.
