How about a topic for movies that are coming out but nobody's seen yet?

I watched the Aliens Vs Predator: Requiem trailer, and it looks so bloody and nasty and full of profanity that I can't post the link here. (It was one of the red "Restricted" trailers, not the "Approved for All Audiences" ones.) There's NO WAY this one will be rated PG-13, but the story and battles look so much better than the first AvP that I'm still intrigued by what's happening. It's the kind of movie I'd want to see edited on network TV, because Predators and Aliens are just so cool. Rumor has it that at least part of this movie takes place on the Predator homeworld.

In other news, you can stop referring to next summer's Indy movie as IV. The new Indiana Jones has a title: "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull". Unlike the other Indy titles, this sheds little light on what the story might be about. Any guesses? I think Indy might be headed to Mayan or Aztec ruins.

In real life,

Quote

thirteen crystal skulls of apparently ancient origin have been found in parts of Mexico, Central America and South America, comprising one of the most fascinating subjects of 20th Century archaeology. These skulls, found near the ancient ruins of Mayan and Aztec civilizations (with some evidence linking the skulls with past civilization in Peru) are a mystery as profound as the Pyramids of Egypt, the Nazca Lines of Peru, or Stonehenge. Some of the skulls are believed to be between 5,000 and 36,000 years old.

Many indigenous people speak of their remarkable magical and healing properties, but nobody really knows where they came from or what they were used for.
Were they left behind after the destruction of a previous world, such as Atlantis? Are they simply ingenious modern fakes or can they really enable us to see deeply into the past and predict the future?

Much research is currently being done on the skulls. However, their origin is still a baffling mystery. They seem to defy logic. Everything that is known about lapidary work indicates that the skulls should have been shattered fractured, or fallen apart when carved.

Read the whole article here. If the movie has anything to do with the crystal skulls mentioned in that article, I think we might have an adventure involving healing powers, Atlantis, and possibly even some form of time travel.

Does the new Indiana Jones still have Harrison Ford in it? He is getting very old now-a-days.

Anyone heard anything about Pirates 4? 'Cause I actually have.

*whistles*

(You Might Get Some Spoilers In The Next Paragraph If You Don't Want To Know Anything About A New Pirates)

Ok, fine. I'll talk. My friend who went on the Disney Cruise a long while back was also told that they were writing a script for Pirates 4. Its got something to do with the Fountain of Youth. My friend was a V.I.P, and they only told three groups about this, and he just told me a little while ago.

But please don't quote me on this, because I could be totally wrong.

That was fairly explicitly implied by the end of PotC 3, I thought.

Yes, this is true. But I was simpley telling you that they were writing a script. Plus, I knew about his about a year ago.

We do not need a Pirates 4. We did not need a Pirates 2 and 3. I have no hope for the movie and most likely won't even go see it.

Continuing from the other thread.

Quote

It looks to be following the more recent version of Iron Man's origins. Originally in his earliest appearances his origins were as a POW who created the suit in Vietnam to escape. The updated origins are the ones the movie appears to be using, that of a POW of the Gulf War who created the same suit to escape.
Either way it looks good. Also, I've heard tell that the villain is none other then the Mandarin.

Wikipedia seems to say that the Mandarin will be working from the shadows in this film, the main villain on the screen will be Iron Monger.
I'll admit I really am not that knowledgeable of Iron Man, but I've enjoyed his character in media outside of comics (TV, video games). He also plays a key role in one of the few comic I do read, Captain America.

The only upcoming movie that I'm very excited about is No Country For Old Men. It's a Coen Brother's film adapted from the book by America's best novelist. You can't go wrong.

Iron Monger+the driving force of Mandarin= A good lineup for the movie.

I can't wait. Next to Spider-Man my favorite super hero is Iron Man.

Across the Universe

...It's a borderline-psychedelic musical made up entirely of Beatles compositions. And it's out so very soon. C'mon, tell me that Bono hippie-fied and singing "I Am the Walrus" will not make for compelling film. Or that this (warning: skivvies!) is not the most awesome lyrical reinterpretation ever.

this movie is also from a great director, Julie Taymor. She's famous for Titus and Frida if you have seen those. So we're all pretty excited about her making a movie with a more-than-one-word title.

She did Frida??!! Frida is one of the best movies ever. It's a favorite of mine. I've been excited for Across the Universe since the first trailer. I like any musical (Chicago is my favorite movie) and this looks to be the one to dethrone Chicago from it's pedestal. I can't wait.

We're going to go see it Vindicta, I'm making you whether you like it or not. :P

Transformers 2 coming in 2009?

Is this good news? Is a sequel necessary? I still haven't seen the first one (waiting for the DVD to go on Netflix).

This will be entertaining, especially if they get the bargain basement Anime voice actors again :P
