And lest anyone think he's a slacker for proposing sans ring -- furthest from. He just realised that it's a bit silly to plan a wedding and not yet be engaged because you're waiting for the ring to be finished. (Seriously - on our to-do-list for the wedding planning was "get engaged".)
Yes, we know we're weird. We like it that way.
(It's gonna be in August, by the way.)
That's awesome, Jade. Congratulations!

Crazy.
Oh, also... My first college-level literature survey class has made it known to me that I totally dig neo-classicism. Seriously. I just read a French Greek tragedy. It's great.

It must be better than my college-level literature class. I have to give a presentation on a topic I don't even understand, something called structuralism, which I guess isn't about how the story is set up (no way it could be that easy). And that's my rant for the new month.
I'm glad you like yours though. May yours be far less complicated than mine.
On to better things, congrats Jade.

Both of you ought to be wearing Jedi robes. The men should wear Uruk-Hai armor, and the women can be wearing Starfleet uniforms. The rings ought to have the Rogue Squadron logo on them. The wedding cake can be decorated with action figures of obscure characters from eighties cartoons. The pastor should wear a costume from World of Warcraft. Play the Super Mario Bros. theme at the reception (the Zelda theme is also acceptable). The photographer can be dressed up like Master Chief... Maybe the caterers, too, or maybe they could be Reavers. Decorate the door to the reception to look like a Stargate. For drinks- blue milk. Deliver any speeches in Klingon, or Mando, or Na'Vi. Base your vows on the Jedi Code.
Has this helped any?
Then again, I suppose none of this falls under the category of "subtle."

Even more unforgetable.
I wonder if there really would be someone out there who'd actually do it.

If I ever get married, I may call upon your services. You sound like an amazing wedding planner. You should get on that TLC show about wedding planners. They had a nerd wedding episode once and you'd blow em out of the water.
As for obscure eighties characters on the cake, I vote GoBots and the members of M.A.S.K.

Yes, exactly. "Subtle" is very much the key phrase there.

It's... Kinda weird seeing so many members who I've "known" for years getting married and having kids. But it's cool, too.
Thanks! And I know, right? I mean, sithspit, I was in my first year of college when I first joined (4 Feb 2003), and now I'm on the last half of my graduate school career and planning a wedding. Weird! Especially since a year ago, I had no clue that a year later I'd be engaged (dating wasn't even on the radar, actually).
We were talking today and realised something -- on our second date, we'd planned out a timeline that involved getting married in June 2011, and until the last month, that seemed doable. By mid-January, we were pretty sick of that plan, so a week ago Friday, we scrapped it in favour of a December wedding. That Sunday, we talked to his pastors and told them we were planning on getting engaged 27 March. By Thursday, we'd decided on August, and Sunday afternoon we got engaged. (In the evening, one of his pastors responded with, "What happened to March 27th?!") Basically, we started dating at exactly the right time, because we really can't afford to get married any earlier than we currently are, so, once again, God's timing proved absolutely perfect.

And also to peewub, for his first OTT.
Haha, thanks. Its more of a big deal for Jade though. The real funny part about me making this new OTT is that I put it in the wrong dang place! xD
Also, thanks to who ever fixed it for me *thumbs up*.

Subtle, dude. We're going for subtle.

The vows will probably come from the Book of Church Order for the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA), but my fiance's pastor has informed us that he has some "killer vows" that're heavily covenantal (complete with curses) that we want to check out, too.
In other words, they'll be in English and normal (though, admittedly, heavily covenantal is geeky for us, just theologically so rather than in the normal sense of the word).
